Spotlight on the Award Categories

Think Global Awards Year Six - Closing for Entry Jan 31, 2023

We decided to shake things up to celebrate the sixth year of the Think Global awards and revise some of our award categories. We are pleased to announce that there are ten award categories, some of which are brand new this year.

Below we will introduce each category and provide further detail on each; we hope this will give you some insight into which category is best for your entry!

Technology and Entertainment
The first of the categories in the 2023 Think Global Awards is Technology and Entertainment. It is an understatement to say that technology impacts every aspect of our lives. Technology now has the power to change and alter how we live in many ways that most of us don’t even realize because we now see it as the norm. Furthermore, technology has become an inevitable part of our lives that will continue to change and evolve. Hand in hand with the rise of technology has been an equal rise in technologically enabled entertainment, and it is for this reason that we are happy to honor high levels of achievement in the areas of technology and entertainment.

Language Person of the Year
The second category for 2023 is Language Person of the Year, which has proved very popular over the years. The recipient of this will demonstrate outstanding leadership, understanding, and innovation in the language and localization industry.  Individuals can nominate themselves or a colleague they believe deserves the award. Judges of this category will look for individuals who consistently deliver results, innovate and lead or those with landmark achievements and data-driven results. Previous winners in this category include Ulrich Henes, the founder and president of The Localization Institute, a Wisconsin-based consulting and event-organizing company, and Lucio Bagnulo, the Head of Translation and Language Strategy at Amnesty International.

Life Sciences Award
Next up is the Life Sciences Award. This award will go to a company that demonstrates a remarkable effort in the development, progress, and innovation in biotech, med-tech, medical devices, medical research, pharmaceuticals, or any other health-related field science. The life sciences industry is vital and deserves recognition for the life-saving health sciences advancements it can offer.

Education and eLearning
According to Forbes, online learning has grown significantly over the last decade as the internet and education combine to provide people with the opportunity to gain new skills. The fourth category is Education and eLearning, and the judges will look for innovative learning and teaching methods using technology.

Start-up
Start-ups are businesses that want to disrupt industries and change the world—and do it all at scale. Start-up founders dream of giving society something it needs but that it hasn’t created yet—generating eye-popping valuations that lead to an initial public offering (IPO) and an astronomical return on investment. The fifth of the categories in the 2023 awards will highlight a Start-up organization, individual, or team that demonstrates an ability to think globally from day one.  The winner(s) of this award will demonstrate a willingness to grow, develop and quickly become the ‘one(s) to watch’ in their respective industries.

Community/Non-profit
Our sixth category is the Community/Non-profit award. In the fifth edition of their Non-profit Trends report, Salesforce highlights how non-profit and community organizations thrive on relationships and how delivering a non-profit mission requires strong connections with stakeholders – including employees, donors, volunteers, program participants, and more. This award will honor the best community-aligned project, website, platform, or service and non-profit organizations, individuals, or businesses that can effectively demonstrate their commitment to their non-profit-related activity or cause. Previous winners in this category include the Irish charity of St Vincent de Paul, the largest voluntary charitable organization in Ireland working for Social Justice and the creation of a more just, Caring Nation.

Professional Services
The award for Professional Services is the seventh category in this year’s awards. An individual, team, or organization that you believe delivers consistently high results in professional services should apply for this award.  In this category, the judges will look for strategies put in place, challenges encountered, and results achieved as part of outstanding professional services.  Last year’s winners in this category were Exclaimer,  a privately held UK-based information technology company owned by Insight Partners. It develops, sells, and supports email utilities and cloud computing technologies.

Travel, Transportation, and Hospitality
Travel, Transportation, and Hospitality
are the eighth category this year. This category is broader than in previous years and is open to brands, companies, and individuals in the travel, transportation, and hospitality sectors. The judges are particularly keen to see the new and established shining stars together with the creative travel-related initiatives that demonstrate and recognize ingenuity and development in the broader travel industry landscape. Additionally, the judges would like to see entities that have encountered significant challenges in the past years and the solutions and innovations that allowed them to pivot to a successful outcome.

Marketing
The award for Marketing comes in as the ninth category of the Think Global awards. This award will highlight the individual, company, or brand demonstrating creativity and excellence in local or global marketing. The judges are looking for brilliance in storytelling or engagement backed by precise data that reflects the strategy's effectiveness. This can include campaigns that have delivered exceptional feedback from the target audience.

Retail and eCommerce
The final category for the 2023 awards is Retail and eCommerce. According to Campaign Monitor, eCommerce business models are booming, and Online retail sales continue to grow yearly.  However, not every eCommerce or retail model is equal.  Some work well with specific products, while others provide daily conveniences. For this category, judges will look at how a business has effectively transformed the way it operates and functions through the application and adoption of digital transformation, technology, or processes. Additionally, the judges will consider how projects, people, and campaigns have contributed to a successful project or overall change. The focus in this category will be on three key areas, innovation, impact, and implementation.

Judging Panel
For all the award categories, the Think Global Award judges will examine each entry without bias and judge regardless of the entity, project, team, or company size. Every entry must demonstrate the following criteria:

  • A concise description of the project, initiative, or issue to be solved.

  • A clear strategy is to be outlined, including specific steps taken.

  • Successful results backed by data (as far as possible).

  • Coherency between mission, strategy, and results.
